I'm glad they announced when they did.

Actually, they had to. With another Chapter due in April, and no news of what it would be, they had to announce something, not just "Well, in August we'll be selling an Expansion. Hope you like it as much as a Chapter!"

No. That would not go over well at all. In fact, GW:EN is a preview for GW2, so Guild Wars 2 is a selling point for GWEN, and vice-versa.

Either way its too long between GW:EN and GW2 without continued chapters or expansions in the meantime, was more my point. The mere knowledge that GW:EN is it for a while and all I really have to do is grind out titles to get some sort of boon in GW2 if I get it took an awful lot of wind out of my sails in terms of desire to play. You do, however, raise a good point and maybe GW:EN will in fact turn out to not be the last content update for GW. Who knows.

I still think it's stupid to pass judgment on the game this early...

Well I'm not. I'm only lamenting their announcing the end of GW combined with GW2 way off in the future. They should be continuing GW content beyond GW:EN since, while I cant speak for anyone else, I can say for myself I had a hard enough time making it from one chapter to the next as it was. In fact each time I took a significant break before the next came out and almost didnt come back. I cant even begin to imagine two years or so, and if I'll even care by that time about picking up the franchise again since I know I'll love GW:EN for about a month and then be bored out of my mind after completing it and doing titles again for two weeks.

That part of it said, yes, it simply isnt possible at this point to say anything bad about GW2 in and of itself. Its just too far off that anything could happen with the game design. Agree with you on that completely. Its likely to shape up quite nicely. Just have to give it quite a bit of time from now.

Yeah, that's very true... It was kind of difficult in between chapters, you're 100% right there.

Did Diablo2 end because WoW came out?

As long as people play the game there will be some sort of support. The pvp is still unrivaled by other games. I think that will hold the game together for a very long time.

Now if GW will stop hogging rights to the game and hand it over to the Championship Gaming Tournaments they will have a true breakthrough to mainstream longevity. That would also bring the game into a new age of competitive play.

I read the description of GW2 and honestly it basically seems like WoW. >.<. Character classes with special skills. Higher level limit. No mention of it being based on skill atleast from what I've read.

Since WoW is a good game I don't see how that is a bad thing. GW's huge flaw is there is nothing to do after the missions. Its either farm or pvp. Both get boring at times. PvP can be maddening at times turning some people off all together.

As for your grind comment; nobody forced you to grind for titles and I'll laugh hard if you think getting to level 20 is "grind". Getting to level 70 in WoW is grind because it takes a long time (for a non-addicted player) but level 20 in GW can be achieved within a few hours.

Guild Wars won't get anymore Sorrows Furnace sized updates, most of Anets attention will be on GW:EN and GW2 now.
I agree... anyway... the current GW doesn't really offer me anything new anymore. I have alot of maxed titles on a many characters, I have gone through all the lore and everything. Nowadays when I play I remember the "good old days" when I was starting GW, everything was so new and refreshing. I really dont care for titles when I am gonna get a new game thats even greater and that will provide refreshing gameplay, a new learning curve, new lore, etc.

I think they're going to be bringing out small expansion packs through the online store (they've already started. Look at their bonus mission pack promotion). They're not going to be nearly as big as a full chapter, but as long as these come every couple of months, I think that that'll keep quite a few people playing. I think what they'll do after GWEN is released is have most of that team move on and work on GW2, and make a smaller team in charge of creating small content packs and keep the game running. Of course, I have no idea if this will happen, but judging by that promotion going at the moment, I think this is likely.

MMOs are funny sometimes, but it's not their fault when people force themselves on grind, titles, anything meaningless offline. So all they do is tormenting themselves with too long erections and while they actually lose something much more important, which is _time_, they whine about not being able to carry that erection over they so painfully evoked. It's so pathetic.

I think a fresh start is all good. Remember starting in Pre-Searing? I remember peeing myself when I saw Fire Storm, went straight to making an ele. How about getting that new set of droks armor and feeling like king of the world. How about when partying for common quests was the norm? I think this will all come back with GW2, as new players, and old GW Veterans, come together for a whole new, fresh start.

I'm not thrilled about GW2 vs GW1, what I do like is the idea of a Z Axis... I'm glad you won't be able to exploit bridges any more.

What I'm curious about.... and if anyone knows please tell me...... but once GW2 hits the streets and you setup your Hall of Monuments. If you go back to GW and achieve another title or another lvl of a title... will it continuously update the Hall of Monuments in GW2?

I can hardly wait for GW2 (although I know I have to). GW is great I expect GW2 to be that much better.

Mordakai, no, I never compared BC to GW2. I was pointing out that one was an expansion. Someone else on here thinks that getting new gear and going from level 60 to 70 is like starting all over with a new character.... yeah whatever....

People just don't get it. Seems that 90% of the people posting on here don't understand simple words. I NEVER SAID THAT THE GAME WASN'T FUN.

Come on.....

Simple, break-it-down-so-that-any-caveman-can-understand-it..... = ANet kept saying exapansions to the same game. I looked forward to that aspect. ANet changed their mind. I'm unhappy with that aspect. I think they should keep doing expansions. If they want a new game, they should start a whole different project and keep working on expansions for GW.

Stop carrying on and on about other games. Diablo 1 and 2 are nothing like GW. They weren't originally meant to be an online game.

Contrary to what people think, I understand that GW2 is a new game. duh!!!!!! that's why I'm upset. sheesh people. grow brains.
